Miami-based Carnival Cruise line suffering a number of tragedies recently, reporting a second passenger death in one week.
The U.S. Coast Guard searched the waters near Mayport for the body of a passenger who jumped overboard from his state balcony on Wednesday.
Carnival says the man died after jumping overboard as his cruise ship sailed from Carnival’s private destination in the Bahamas on May 13.
This is the sixth man overboard cruise ship incident this year. In April, a crew member jumped overboard from a Norwegian cruise ship and another passenger died after tumbling off her stateroom balcony to a lower deck on board Carnival Firenze.
May 11th, an elderly female Carnival cruise passenger drove her mobility scooter off the pier at Carnival’s Celebration Key.
Meanwhile, crew members currently on a Carnival ship visiting Belize are dealing with a stuck anchor that has delayed the ship’s departure from port for several hours.
