After a second place showing behind former President Donald Trump in Iowa, what's next for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis?

Political Science expert Dr. Sean Foreman says DeSantis really needed to beat Trump in Iowa to convince voters that he is a serious contender.

Now it's downhill for him in New Hampshire and South Carolina, says Foreman, because Trump and former S.C. Governor Nikki Haley are both strong in those states.

So, if he can't beat him, will DeSantis join Trump on the ticket? Dr. Foreman says he does not see Trump picking DeSantis as his running mate because they are both "alpha males" and that won't work day-to-day.

Ultimately, Foreman sees DeSantis dropping out of the race, endorsing Trump and going back to Florida to finish out his final three years as Governor.

Gov. DeSantis will campaign in New Hampshire and South Carolina today before joining Wolf Blitzer at CNN for a 9:00 town hall tonight.

The New Hampshire primary is one week from today.
