(Miami, Fla) -- Both sides rested their respective cases Friday afternoon in the murder-for-hire trial of Miami oral surgeon, Charlie Adelson.
The Miami jury will hear closing arguments on Monday and then deliberations will begin.
Adelson was the final witness and while on the stand, he denied hiring a hitman to kill FSU professor and his former brother-in-law, Dan Markel, nine years ago.
Adelson is accused of hiring two Miami hitmen, Latin Kings gang leader Luis Rivera and Sigfredo Garcia, to carry out "the bump."
Rivera, Garcia and Adelson's former girlfriend, Katherine Magbanua have already been convicted in the murder conspiracy.
Adelson told the jury that he was a victim of an extortion plot orchestrated by Magbanua.
