Florida Congressman Reintros Bill to Ban Trans Athletes from Women's Sports

SARASOTA -- A Florida congressman reintroduces a bill to keep trans women out of women's sports.

The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act died im the last Congress, but Sarasota Republican Greg Steube has reintroduced it in the current Congress. It would ban transgender competition in women's sports covered by Title Nine.

Steube's campaign references University of Virginia student Sarasota resident Emma Weyant, who was beaten in the NCAA Championship in the 500 meter Freestyle event by trans swimmer Lia Thomas.

15 Republicans including Central Florida congressman Daniel Webster, have signed on as co-sponsors.
