Today is the Deadline to Seek FEMA Assistance After Ian

An important deadline is here for those who suffered damage from Hurricane Ian. Today is the last day to apply for benefits from FEMA.

FEMA's Issa Mansaray says assistance from FEMA isn't limited to paying for repairs from the storm. It can also be used for rent, auto repairs, and medical or child care. "You may qualify for FEMA assistance if you have disaster-related damage or loss not covered by insurance," Mansaray said.

Mansaray says you may file online at disaster assistance.gov, as well as disaster assistance centers, or by calling 1-800-621-3362.

Renters and homeowners in 26 central and south Florida counties are eligible for assistance.
