Road Rage Incident Leaves Motorcyclist on Life Support

A road rage incident ends with a motorcyclist on life support and in critical condition....and a 35-year-old man from Homosassa behind bars for attempted vehicular homicide.

Citrus County Sheriff's Office says Kristopher Hite got into an argument at a stoplight in Crystal River. Deputies say Hite then deliberately swerved his SUV into the biker's lane and hit him, causing the bike and the victim to "flip repeatedly in the air violently."

"This incident was irresponsible and preventable," stated Citrus County Sheriff Mike Prendergast. "Allowing a negative interaction with another motorist to escalate to Road Rage puts everyone in jeopardy and demonstrates a reckless disregard for other motorists and passengers."

Hite is also facing child neglect charges, as his young son was in his SUV at the time of the incident.

The motorcyclist has not been identified.
