Boat Show Returns To West Palm Beach Waterfront With COVID Protocols

The Palm Beach International Boat Show returns to the West Palm Beach waterfront, but it will look different this year.

The event was virtual-only last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This time around, organizers had to put together an extensive safety plan in order to win the city's approval.

All participants must wear face coverings and have their temperatures taken at the four entrances, which were expanded for social distancing.

There will be sanitation stations throughout the event space, along Flagler Drive and along the Intracoastal. The number of people allowed aboard a boat at one time will be restricted.

Exhibitor Katie Macpherson tells CBS 12 News that that this is the first boat show she's attending since February of last year, when Miami had its boat show. That was before the full swath of the pandemic was felt.

“I think we are all ready to get out of our house right now and see people and talk to people again. I think our industry is very face-to-face, a lot of personal relationships and we really miss that. It’ll be really great to get back to that again.”

The 35th Annual Palm Beach International Boat Show opens at Noon on Thursday and runs through Sunday.
