FL Teachers Can Now Carry Guns Inside Their Classrooms

Starting today, Florida teachers can now carry guns inside their classrooms.

The law was passed in response to the 2018 mass shooting in Parkland where 17 people were killed.

All of the state's largest school districts have opted out of the program, including Miami-Dade, Broward, Hillsborough and Orange counties.

There is no idea how many teachers are carrying concealed weapons because they are allowed to remain anonymous.

To carry weapon, staff must pass a background check, psychological exam and more than 140 hours of training.

Florida becomes the eighth state to allow some teachers to carry weapons into their classrooms.
