Sterile rats in NY

New York City is considering a new tactic in its continuing War on Rats. They're looking into rodent birth control. The City Council is introducing legislation that calls for the distribution of salty pellets that sterilize both male and female rats. Two neighborhoods would be targeted under a pilot program. The city has unsuccessfully tried similar methods in the past but wants to give it another shot due to improvements in the city's handling of garbage, as well advancements in rat contraceptives.

A Florida woman is facing DUI charges after she was spotted driving with only three tires. Authorities in Pinellas County say that, on Monday, multiple people reported a woman recklessly driving a dark gray Nissan Rogue without a passenger side front tire. Law enforcement pulled over 49-year-old Ann Keller, who claimed she had no idea about the missing car part. Authorities say Keller failed her sobriety test and had a blood alcohol level that was twice the legal limit.

Looking for an excuse for speeding? Well, here's a speeding excuse that did not work. On Wednesday, police in Tulsa, Oklahoma, stopped a driver on the Broken Arrow Expressway going 107 miles per hour in a 65 mile per hour zone. The driver said he and his friends were on their way...to do laundry. Yes, laundry. But he'll need a lot more than a few quarters to pay the fine. He was given a ticket for aggravated speeding that requires a court appearance and a fine up to 500 dollars, or ten days in jail. Turns out he was also driving with a suspended license.

It's shaping up to be an epic courtroom battle: Spearmint Rhino versus Peppermint Hippo. The Spearmint Rhino and the Peppermint Hippo are both strip clubs. Spearmint Rhino filed a complaint in U.S. District Court in Nevada, saying the Peppermint Hippo name infringes on its trademark because the names are "confusingly similar." Spearmint Rhino has been in business since 1992. Peppermint Hippo opened its location in Las Vegas two years ago. It is named after a fictitious strip club in the animated TV series "South Park." Both club names are registered trademarks.
