It's a Beatles reunion! Paul McCartney has been reunited with his original Hoffner bass. McCartney bought the guitar, a left-handed Höfner Violin Bass, in Hamburg, Germany, in 1961. He played it throughout the early years of The Beatles' runs at Hamburg's Top Ten Club and Liverpool's Cavern Club and on early Beatles recordings until it became his backup when he got a new Höfner in 1963. But the original bass went missing by 1972 when it was apparently stolen, and in 2023, three lifelong Beatles fans set out to find it. They formed the Lost Bass Project and said as a result of publicity over their search, someone living in a house on the south coast of England remembered an old bass guitar that was in their attic. Sure enough it was Paul's and now he has it back. McCartney paid 30 pounds for the Hofner, which is now believed to be worth millions.

Passengers on a Delta international flight were no doubt relieved to be off the plane even though they didn't get where they were supposed to be going. The flight was traveling from Amsterdam to Detroit and, just an hour after takeoff, was rerouted back to Amsterdam. That, after a suitcase containing rotten fish in the overhead bin broke open and maggots began to fall on the unsuspecting passengers. Passengers exited the plane after it landed at the original airport and the suitcase that caused the disruption was put in a bag to be burned while the cabin was cleaned.

Iron Maiden might not be among this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees, but having a new species of lizard named after their frontman isn't the worst "consolation prize." A new lizard species discovered in Lima, Peru has been named "Enyalioides [[ Enya-lee-oy-dees ]] dickinsoni" in honor of Bruce Dickinson. A description of the lizard on the "Journal of Vertebrate Biology" website confirms the lizard was named for Dickinson. The description praises Dickinson for his awareness and protection of vulnerable species. Not to mention, according to the website, many biologists and museum curators are big Iron Maiden fans.

Police in one Connecticut town are on the lookout for a suspect who is furry with four legs. His crime: predicting an early spring. The Guilford Police Department took to Facebook this week to say they're coming for Chuckles the Groundhog. They say he's "defrauding" New Englanders with his claims of a shorter winter, after the area was coated with snow yesterday.
