FLORIDA - As Christmas Eve and Christmas Day approach, residents across South Florida are adjusting plans as many stores, services, and institutions shift to holiday schedules.

While Christmas Eve on December 24th allows for limited last minute shopping, Christmas Day on December 25th brings widespread closures across the region.

On Christmas Eve, many major retailers remain open but operate with reduced hours.

Walmart locations typically close in the early evening, while Target stores generally shut down by early night.

Grocery chains such as Publix and Winn Dixie are open on Christmas Eve but usually close earlier than normal.

Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s also operate on shortened schedules, giving shoppers a final opportunity to prepare for the holiday.

Christmas Day sees significantly more closures.

Major retailers including Walmart, Target, and Costco are closed throughout the day.

Most grocery stores also close completely on December 25, although some independently owned markets may operate with limited hours.

Convenience stores such as 7 Eleven, Circle K, and Wawa are generally open on Christmas Day, offering access to essentials.

Pharmacies follow varied schedules. Many CVS locations remain open on Christmas Day, while Walgreens stores adjust hours depending on location, with some 24 hour stores staying open.

Banks, post offices, and mail delivery services are closed on Christmas Day in observance of the federal holiday, though ATMs and online banking remain available.

Shopping malls across Miami Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties typically close on Christmas Day and operate limited hours on Christmas Eve.

Many restaurants remain open on Christmas Day, often offering special holiday menus, though hours and availability vary.
