FLORIDA - A new national study from WalletHub reports that Tampa is the third best city in the United States for singles, comparing 182 cities using 35 metrics related to dating conditions and social opportunities.

The ranking evaluates factors such as the share of single residents, access to online dating, average costs for date activities, and the availability of entertainment and recreational venues.

WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo stated that finding a compatible partner can be more difficult when a city lacks social and economic conditions that support dating.

The study notes that the highest ranked cities tend to offer balanced single populations, a variety of activities, and reasonable prices for outings.

Tampa earned high marks for its recreation and entertainment options, placing 12th nationwide in fun and recreation and ninth in dating opportunities.

The study cites the city's attractions, restaurants, coffee shops, shopping centers, and social clubs as contributing factors.

Tampa also ranks 65th in the country for adjusted median household income at more than $73,000, which the report says may appeal to singles seeking financially stable partners.

Demographically, Tampa has a large single population and the 13th most balanced gender ratio among single adults.

The report attributes the city's appeal to its coastal environment and growing economy, which continue to attract professionals and young adults.

Atlanta ranked first overall in the study, followed by Las Vegas in second.

Orlando was the only other Florida city to place in the top 10, while Hialeah ranked lowest in the state.

Brownsville Texas ranked last nationally at number 182.
