FLORIDA - The University of South Florida has achieved its highest-ever position in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report rankings, reflecting ongoing growth in academic quality and institutional performance.

USF is now ranked 88th overall among all national universities, public and private, up from 91st last year.

Among public universities, the school is ranked 43rd, maintaining its spot in the top 50 for the seventh consecutive year.

USF President Rhea Law said the rankings reflect the university’s commitment to academic excellence, research, and its impact on the Tampa Bay region and the state of Florida.

She emphasized that these results demonstrate the university community’s efforts in preparing students for leadership roles and addressing societal challenges.

In other areas, USF is ranked 17th for social mobility, 19th for innovation, and 42nd for best colleges for veterans.

These rankings are based on a combination of factors, including graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, and alumni giving.
