Kissimmee, FL - A Florida woman got a surprising dose of karma after an alligator, spooked by her shoe-throwing, grabbed one of her shoes and fled into the water.

Sarah Louise Martin, a tourist visiting from Gravesend, UK, was staying in Kissimmee when she recorded the odd incident and posted it on TikTok.

In the video, Martin explained she had just woken up and noticed an alligator near a herd of deer outside her rental home.

"I’ve just seen this on the grass outside, an alligator casually walking around and some deers," she narrated.

She went on to say that the deer seemed unbothered by the alligator’s presence.

Later in the video, someone threw a shoe at the alligator, causing it to briefly scurry away.

Martin then explained that another shoe was thrown at the alligator, presumably to get it back into the water.

That’s when the alligator snatched one of the shoes and quickly retreated into the water.

Martin seemed disappointed, joking that the alligator was "getting revenge."

In Florida, alligators are a common sight and can be found in all 67 counties, with an estimated population of over 1.3 million.

While attacks are rare, Florida Fish and Wildlife recommends staying a safe distance from alligators, especially around water.

If an alligator becomes a nuisance, residents can contact the Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 888-404-3922 for assistance.
