(Melbourne, FL) -- The defending Little League World Series champs could get a chance to defend their title.
The Lake Mary Little League team from Seminole County won the state championship in Melbourne yesterday.
Team manager, Jonathan Anderson, on the team's winning formula: "To me, Lake Mary's built on defense and pitching. We just happened to have a really good lineup. But the key to win baseball games is you've got to pitch. You've got to throw strikes, and you've got to play defense."
They beat Bayshore, 10-nothing, for their third straight state title. Lake Mary now advances to the Southeast regionals in Georgia next week.
The regional winner advances to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Last year, Lake Mary became the first Florida team to ever win the World Series.
