BSO: Suspect Beats Elderly Man on BCT Bus, Steals Phone, and Flees

Broward Sheriff's Detectives in the Pompano Beach District are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect who they say battered and robbed an elderly man on a Broward County Transit bus.

The attack occurred at approximately 12:39 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, near the 600 block of Southwest 12th Avenue in Pompano Beach. Witnesses say the elderly victim was sitting alone on the bus when an adult male subject walked up to him and began cursing for no apparent reason.

Detectives say the driver stopped the bus and asked the passengers to exit, and that's when the suspect attacked the victim and stole his phone.

The suspect was wearing a white long-sleeve jacket, black shirt and black shorts. He is described as a black man, approximately 30 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, and weighing around 160 pounds.

Anyone with information on his identity or whereabouts should contact BSO’s Pompano Beach Det.
