St Cloud Named Florida’s Safest Small City in National Crime Ranking

St. Cloud, FL - A recent report analyzing property crime data from the FBI ranked the safest small cities in the United States based on crime rates per 10,000 residents.

The study, published by home security company Vivint focused on towns with populations between 50,000 and 100,000.

Columbus, Indiana ranked first overall, followed by Wheaton, Illinois; Saratoga Springs, Utah; Jacksonville, North Carolina; and Johns Creek, Georgia.

Rankings were determined using FBI Uniform Crime Reporting data, with an emphasis on larceny, motor vehicle theft, and robbery rates.

Florida’s highest-ranking city was St Cloud, which placed 37th nationally.

The city reported 96 property crimes per 10,000 residents. That included 83.8 larcenies, zero motor vehicle thefts, and 0.9 robberies.

North Port ranked 45th with 99.1 total property crimes, followed by Pensacola at 64th with 111.3.

Wellington ranked 73rd with 108.2, while Doral placed 148th with 162.3.

Lower-ranked Florida cities included Winter Haven (163rd, 169.9), Kissimmee (182nd, 174.6), Boca Raton (196th, 191.4), and Largo (232nd, 217.1). Bradenton ranked 237th with 190.4 property crimes.

Pinellas Park and Boynton Beach both reported 243.6 crimes per 10,000 and ranked 284th and 291st respectively.

Apopka ranked 315th with 271.9, Ocala 331st with 289.8, and Sanford 341st with 273.1.

The report used the most recent available crime data and was based solely on property-related incidents.
