The Delray Beach Police Department has announced its new interim chief.
He is Assistant Chief Darrell Hunter, who will step in after Police Chief Russ Mager steps down next week after 29 years with the agency. He's been chief for just under three years.
Hunter has advanced through the ranks. He was promoted to sergeant in 2014, lieutenant in 2017, captain in 2020 and then assistant chief in 2021.
