The Palm Beach County Commission is approving a plan for Palm Beach Atlantic University to issue $250 million in bonds to build a 25-story high-rise for students in downtown West Palm Beach.

The tower at Acacia Road and Dixie Highway adds nearly a thousand beds for students, along with a new dining facility and parking garage.

Curt Brown is Palm Beach Atlantic's Vice President of Construction and Facilities.

"It's basically an affordable housing project for our students. Who can live on a 25th floor of a residents hall overlooking the ocean and the water at affordable rates downtown?"

He tells CBS 12 News that West Palm Beach officials still have to give final approval and that could happen Monday.

The project has a five year economic impact of $1.36 billion to the area and would create close to 4,500 jobs.
