FLORIDA - Florida’s labor force has surpassed 11.1 million workers, according to new U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data. Governor Ron DeSantis announced the milestone, highlighting a revision that added 162,000 workers to previous employment estimates.
The state’s job market remains strong, with 113,600 jobs added over the past year and employment growth in 54 of the last 57 months since May 2020. Florida’s private-sector job growth rate of 1.3% slightly outpaced the national average of 1.2%.
Governor DeSantis credited the expansion to Florida’s economic policies.
Florida’s unemployment rate has remained below the national average for 51 consecutive months, signaling continued economic stability.
Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly emphasized the state’s resilience, calling it a strong environment for both job seekers and businesses.
The education and health services sector led January’s job gains with 7,200 new jobs, followed by leisure and hospitality (+6,100 jobs).
Manufacturing jobs reached 430,800, while over 393,000 job openings were posted online.
