Miami Beach, FL - Miami Beach authorities have ramped up efforts to maintain order during spring break by introducing advanced drone technology and a sophisticated real-time monitoring system.
The Miami Beach Police Department (MBPD) has launched the Skydio X10 drone, the first of its kind to be used for law enforcement in Florida.
This aerial surveillance tool is designed to help officers respond quickly to incidents and deter unruly behavior among spring breakers.
Following last year’s strict enforcement measures, city officials doubled down on their efforts by promoting the "Breaking Up With Spring Break" campaign.
The newly deployed drone plays a key role in this initiative, allowing officers to monitor large crowds and swiftly relay crucial information to the department’s Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC).
This high-tech hub integrates more than 850 surveillance cameras, automated license plate readers, marine radar, and tools for detecting potential threats on social media.
Officials expect the upcoming weekend to be one of the busiest of the season.
By combining aerial surveillance with extensive ground-level monitoring, the city hopes to prevent disruptions and keep residents and visitors safe.
With Miami Beach implementing some of the most advanced security measures in the state, authorities remain committed to maintaining a balance between a fun atmosphere and public safety.
