Broward Commissioners take another step towards solving the affordable housing crisis. They're expected to unanimously approve a 7-million-dollar plan to turn what was once a Motel 6 in Pompano Beach into an affordable housing project. Commissioner Lamar Fisher says the 10-story building will have 467 units that will be rented out based on income. The county bought the old motel lot last year as an affordable housing initiative since home prices are pushing people out of Broward. The property is located just east of Florida's turnpike. Construction is set to begin in January of 2026.
