Tampa, FL - A bull terrier named Trooper that was abandoned during Hurricane Milton has found his forever home.
As Hurricane Milton approached Florida in October, Trooper was discovered tied to a fence along Interstate 75 near Tampa, as floodwaters rose around him.
A Florida Highway Patrol trooper rescued Trooper and he was taken to the Leon County Humane Society in Tallahassee.
After his rescue, Trooper's story garnered national attention, leading to numerous adoption applications from across the country.
The Humane Society carefully reviewed those applications to find the best match for Trooper and ultimately chose a couple experienced with bull terriers as his new family.
The couple's 7-year-old miniature bull terrier, Dallas, had been mourning the loss of her companion, Diesel, who passed away in April at the age of 15.
When introduced to Dallas, the two dogs quickly bonded, with tails wagging and a display of mutual affection.
The Leon County Humane Society expressed confidence in their decision, noting that the couple are compassionate individuals with ample experience handling the breed.
