FLORIDA - The Boeing Company has announced plans to permanently lay off 141 employees across multiple Florida locations, including the Kennedy Space Center, Titusville, Orlando, Cocoa Beach, Daytona Beach, and Melbourne.

The layoffs are scheduled to begin on January 17, 2025, as detailed in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) sent to the Florida Department of Commerce.

This decision is part of Boeing's broader strategy to reduce its global workforce by approximately 10%, equating to around 17,000 positions, amid ongoing financial challenges.

The company has faced significant setbacks, including a recent machinists' strike and delays in aircraft deliveries, which have adversely affected its financial performance.

The layoffs will affect various facilities across Florida, with a significant number of positions at the Kennedy Space Center and in Titusville.

Boeing has been a key player in Florida's aerospace sector, contributing over $1 billion in supplier spending within the state in 2023.

Employees impacted by the layoffs are expected to receive severance packages and career transition support.

Boeing is coordinating with local agencies to assist affected workers in finding new employment opportunities within the aerospace industry.
