It'll take longer than expected to learn what led to the Surfside condo collapse.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology announced last week it's draft report into the 2021 collapse will be delayed a year until 2026.

One of the lead investigators tells the Miami Herald it's one of the most complex building failure investigations ever undertaken.

“Unfortunately, we have faced technical and programmatic delays that have caused us to adjust our timeline,” said lead investigator Judith Mitrani-Reiser.

More than $33 million has been spent on the investigation into the deaths of 98 people who died when Champlain Towers South collapsed in June of 2021.
