West Park, FL - A baby was unharmed after lightning struck a metal fence and traveled through the ceiling of their South Florida home on Tuesday.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the incident at a home in the area of 3808 SW 33rd Court in West Park on Tuesday morning.

According to the family, the lightning struck the pavement outside the home, then traveled up a metal fence and entered the bedroom through the ceiling.

The Sheetrock fell onto the baby's mattress, but fortunately, the child was not injured.

While the home sustained damage to the ceiling, the baby's safety was the primary concern.

In a separate incident in Hallandale Beach, heavy weather caused a roof collapse, forcing a mother of six to evacuate her household.

Tkyana Bryant described the terrifying experience as she rushed to get her children to safety.

Bryant explained that her roof was already in poor condition, and the recent storms exacerbated the damage.

As the roof collapsed, Bryant quickly gathered her six children and safely exited the home.

Unfortunately, Bryant and her family are now displaced due to the collapsed roof.

Bryant has set up a GoFundMe page to receive assistance from the community.
