NASA now says the first flight of its ultra-quiet, supersonic jet, the X-59, will be next year.

NASA's supersonic passenger plane will fly faster than the speed of sound and will be quieter than the Concorde which was grounded due to noisy sonic booms.

Engineers say when the X-59 breaks the sound barrier, it will sound more like a sonic thump.

The jet will fly at 55-thousand feet and reach 940 miles per hour. Fast enough to get passengers from New York to London in 90 minutes.
