(Tallahassee, Fla) - Miami criminal defense attorney Michael Grieco went before the Florida Supreme Court today to challenge ethics charges and a suspension against him.
The Florida Bar's attorney says Grieco was found guilty of a campaign finance violation that cost him his job as Miami Beach commissioner in 2017.
The Florida Bar alleges Michael Grieco violated three regulatory rules regarding misconduct, honesty and fitness as a lawyer and should be suspended for one year.
Grieco's attorney asked for a 90-day punishment.
This is Grieco's second disciplinary case brought by the Florida Bar.
For his first offense in 2008, he received a public reprimand.
The state Supreme Court will now make the ultimate decision on whether and how Grieco should be disciplined.
