Miami-Dade is seeking to hire some reptile trappers to capture and kill the invasive iguana population.
Miami-Dade officials have posted draft solicitation documents for “iguana control services” that could pay out $700,000 a year.
Iguanas first appeared as pets in Miami-Dade County in 1966 but the population has since exploded.
Blunt force trauma seems to be the best extermination method, according to University of Florida wildlife ecology professor Steve Johnson.
“Euthanasia of iguanas must be conducted off-site in a safe and careful manner. The shooting of iguanas, pellet gun or otherwise, is strictly prohibited,” according to the draft solicitation.
In addition to bashing them in the head, you can stab them in the brain, even decapitate them as long as they don't suffer.
But don't freeze, drown or poison them, or you could end up behind bars.
