Governor DeSantis suspends Miami Commissioner Alex Diaz de la Portilla. The order from the governor says Diaz de la Portilla is "prohibited from performing any official act, duty, or function of public office." He is also banned from receiving pay during the time he is suspended.
The district one commissioner was charged with several felonies this week including official misconduct, money laundering, bribery, and criminal conspiracy.
He was taken into custody after Thursday's city commission meeting.
