One of the five employees from a South Florida high school is trying to get his charges thrown out.

Attorneys for Palm Beach Central assistant principal Daniel Snider have filed a motion to dismiss the charge of failure to report sexual abuse.

Snider, along with the principal and three others are all accused of not reporting the alleged sexual abuse of a 15-year old girl who attended the school after they were informed of it.

The accused is Snider's son and in a court filing Snider states that he did not report it because, in part, he did not believe his son had committed a crime. Under the state law for which he is charged, it states that "any person who knows, or has reasonable cause to suspect that a child is the victim of sexual abuse shall report," and the motion to dismiss cites the "reasonable cause to suspect" portion of the law.

He also claims that if he had reported it, he would have violated a school district policy titled "Teen Dating Violence or Abuse," which states that a "'relative of the victim or accused' may not be involved in the investigation of such complaints."

Snider says he didn't prevent anyone else from reporting it.

The parents of the alleged victim of abuse declined to press charges against Snider's son.

Snider and the other employees have all been reassigned to positions with the district that do not involve students. Earlier this week, Florida Sen. Rick Scott sent a letter to Palm Beach County Schools Superintendent Michael Burke demanding that all of the employees be fired.
