Cutler Bay, FL - Police have arrested a 19-year-old South Florida woman who's accused of trafficking a 14-year-old girl and forcing the minor into acts of prostitution.
Authorities arrested 19-year-old Vonnisha Johnson on charges related to human trafficking and prostitution.
Police say that Johnson facilitated the sale of a 14-year-old girl to a 33-year-old man for sexual purposes in 2022.
Johnson was taken into custody at her residence by Miami-Dade police on Wednesday.
The accused customer and perpetrator, Bazelais Metelus, was previously arrested in April on charges of sexual battery and human trafficking.
Investigators say in January of 2022, Metelus picked up the underage girl from the area of Northwest 79th Street and 27th Avenue and transported her to his home, where he sexually assaulted her.
Police state that Johnson arranged the encounter and collected $140 from Metelus, which he paid the girl in exchange for sexual intercourse.
Following the assault, Metelus drove the victim back to Johnson, who was described by police as a co-defendant.
The girl informed law enforcement that she believed Johnson was using her to generate income for herself, and that she felt compelled to give Johnson the money because she was residing in her house.
Johnson declined to speak with police without legal representation and was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where she remains under a magistrate hold.
Court records reveal that Johnson was previously released on felony bond after being arrested in April on a charge of grand theft of a motor vehicle.
