MLS Player Killed In Miami Boating Accident

A Major League Soccer player has died in a boating accident near the Miami Marine Stadium basin.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials say the boat Anton Walkes was operating and another vessel collided yesterday afternoon.

In a statement the agency said, "the operator of one of the vessels, Anton C. Walkes of Charlotte, North Carolina was found unconscious and transported to shore by Miami Fire Rescue where he received CPR. Mr. Walkes was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries."

An investigation into just what went wrong is underway.

Walkes began playing professionally in the English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.
