After Weeks of Quiet, the Tropics Wake Up

Things have been quiet in the tropics for the past several weeks, but that may be about to change.

The National Hurricane Center is now watching an area of disturbed weather that is actually still over land in western Africa, but projected to move out into the Atlantic. Forecasters currently give it a 20% chance of development over the next five days.

It's still way too soon to predict how strong the system might become, or where it might end up. Nonetheless, it is worth keeping an eye on.
