As the number of COVID cases declines, the largest hospital system in Central Florida will move from Yellow to Green Status starting Thursday. Dr. Neil Finkler of AdventHealth says services that have been on hold for several weeks can now resume.
"Cases and procedures that will require in hospitalization and particularly ICU cases," Dr. Finkler said, "and so that's been our holdup. Our ICU capacity continues to improve."
Dr. Finkler cautions that this does not mean the pandemic is over and people should continue to mask up, socially distance, and take other COVID precautions.
"We still need to mask, socially distance and obviously the big issue here is get vaccinated."
Dr. Finkler says the vast, vast majority of hospitalizations, serious illness and death remain in the unvaccinated population.
