Disney begins to release details of 50th Anniversary Celebration

It all began October 1st, 1971, when the very first guest, William Windsor, visited the Magic Kindom Park.

The Walt Disney World Resort will begin an 18 month celebration this coming October 1st, dubbed "The World's Most Magical Celebration." The first details of the celebration are being released by the company.

The resort's landmarks including the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom, the Hollywood Tower Hotel at Hollywood Studios and the Spaceship Earth at Epcot have been designated "Beacons of Magic" and have been spruced up with new touches and will glow at night.

Of course Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will serve as hosts, wearing sparkling new costumes.

A 50th anniversary crest will be put in place above Cinderella's Castle in the Magic Kingdom.

"If there was ever a time that the world needed some pixie dust, this is it." Walt Disney World president Jeff Vahle said on social media.

The Magic Kingdom was joined by Epcot that opened its doors in 1982. Then came Disney's Hollywood Studios in 1989, followed by Animal Kingdom in 1998.
