South Florida members of Congress describe the ordeal at the Capitol as protesters breached the building.
Republican Representative Brian Mast says he had just left the House chamber and returned to his office to see what was playing out on TV.
"No doubt this is a boiling point of frustration for individuals. That's what brings somebody to violate the law."
Mast condemns the violence, saying it happened while they were "literally in the middle of the democratic process playing out."
Democrat Congresswoman Lois Frankel blames the president for what occurred.
"This is a very very small group of people who basically have been incited to violence. Unfortunately they've been told a big lie by the president. They believe him."
Frankel spoke with CBS 12 News while she was barricaded in an undisclosed room at the Capitol for her safety.
Boca Raton Democrat Ted Deutch vowed at the time that Congress was not going to stop the process of certifying the election results. That process wrapped up early Thursday morning with the official certification of Joe Biden as the next President of the United States.
