TAMPA -- Hillsborough deputies arrest a Manatee jail deputy over an online sex chat with a detective posing as a minor.
The Hillsborough sheriff's office says the undercover detective was on a social media app when 37 year old corrections Sergeant Stephen Utter of the Manatee Sheriff's Office started propositioning the 14 year old girl the detective was posing as. Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister says Utter "sent explicit messages detailing the sexual acts he wished to perform on the juvenile."
Hillsborough notified Utter's bosses, and he was arrested during a training exercise and booked into the jail. Manatee Sheriff Rick Wells fired Utter, calling the allegations "despicable, shocking and unacceptable."
