A driver trying to beat the Brightline wasn't able to make it.
Witnesses say the car tried to go around the guardrail at North Dixie Highway and NE 39th Street in Oakland Park when the speeding train slammed into it.
The force of the crash and the blocks that it took to stop caused the train to catch fire.
According to our partners at Total Traffic Network, "Dixie is still closed at the scene of collision at 34th Ct., and 34th Ct. and 36th St. are closed going over the tracks."
There was no initial word on the condition of the driver or if anyone on the train was hurt.
