BUD'S BLOG, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 9th, 2023

For the last time in my career at Newsradio WFLA, I'll be up super late tonight to select key sound cuts for you from both the Republican presidential debate in Miami, and former President Trump's competing campaign rally in nearby Hialeah, Florida! Then at 7:42 am Thursday, we'll talk live with Newsradio WFLA's White House correspondent, Jon Decker and get his take on how the debate went for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the other GOP candidates, and Jon's take on Trump's rally.

How interesting that on the eve of my retirement after 20+ years here at iHeart Orlando and Newsradio WFLA, a new national survey should surface listing the best places in America to retire. I expected to see Orlando at the top of the list, because that where my wife Lynda and I will be retiring to enjoy all the blessings of continuing to live in Central Florida to enjoy the sunshine, and the endless array of exciting things to do and amazing places to go, all on a single tank of gas. Could anyplace be better that this, I thought, as I started looking down the list of best places to retire. Believe it or not, I didn't get to Orlando until I got down to the 24th best place to retire on this list!! What was listed as the #1 place to retire? Drumroll please....wait for it...wait for it....Harrisburg, Pennsylvania is the #1 place to retire in America! What?!!! We need to talk about this, and we will!

In addition, if I hired you as my travel agent, where is the very first place you would recommend my wife and I go once we start enjoying the newfound freedom that comes with retirement? Give me a call during the show at 407 916 5400, send a text message to 23680, or record your thoughts by making a Talkback recording as you listen on your phone using the iHeartradio app!

I have been blessed to work alongside some truly wonderful people in my 54 year long broadcasting career, but none finer than my very special guest in Thursday's 8 o'clock hour on Good Morning Orlando. Marla Weech, the beloved former news anchor at WFTV Channel 9, WKMG Channel 6, and Spectrum News 13 will be joining us live. Marla is the first person I ever shared the airwaves with in Orlando. She was my co-anchor at Channel 9 when I first came to Orlando from Syracuse, New York in 1986, 37 years ago! Marla has become a dear friend over the years, and it will be wonderful to have her as our special guest on my second to last show before I retire on Friday!

It's Olsen on Law with Alan and Attorney Tom Olsen. Today's topic: If you die and your children inherit your money, will their spouse get some of it if your child gets divorced?
