Red Sox Rally Past Rays For 12th Straight Win

The Boston Red Sox (49-48) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (56-41) 7-6 on Saturday evening in Boston. With the win, the Rays have dropped their first three games since the All-Star Break, while the Red Sox have won twelve games in a row.

The Rays got an early 2-0 lead with two runs in the second inning, but the Red Sox rallied to take a 3-2 lead after three innings. The Rays got three in the fourth and one in the seventh to built a 6-3 lead, but again the Red Sox had an answer - they scored four runs in the seventh inning to take a 7-6 lead, which would prove to be the final score.

The Rays will now try to avoid being swept in their four game series at Fenway Park when they meet the Red Sox in the finale on Sunday afternoon. Shane McClanahan (8-5, 2.83) is scheduled to start for the Rays and face Sonny Gray (11-1, 2.54) for the Red Sox. First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 1:35 PM - pregame coverage begins with Chris Adams-Wall hosting This Week In Rays Baseball at high noon on 95.7 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
