Orioles Beat Rays In Thirteen Innings

The Baltimore Orioles (24-30) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (34-17) 9-7 in thirteen innings on Monday afternoon at Camden Yards in Baltimore.

This was a pitching duel to start, with Shane McClanahan pitching five and a third shutout innings to start the game. Jonathan Aranda hit a homer in the sixth and Richie Palacios hit a two-run single in the eighth to account for the Rays offense in regulation.

Tied 2-2 in the ninth, neither team scored in the tenth. In the eleventh each team scored twice, before each team scored once in the twelfth inning. In the thirteenth, the Rays got two in their half and led 7-5. The Orioles scored two to tie the game before Colton Cowser hit a game-ending, walk-off two-run homer that ended this wild affair in the favor of the home team.

The Rays and Orioles now meet in the second game of their three-game series on Tuesday night. First pitch Tuesday is scheduled for 6:35 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.7 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
