The two contenders for the Republican bid in the governor's race met Thursday at the Gaylord Palms and Convention Center for a debate.
Though Adam Putnam and Ron DeSantis have met before, this was their first broadly televised debate.
The debate, though it was not without its sparks, seemed to be a reaffirmation of conservative credentials by each candidate as they addressed the audience.
There were differences, with Ron DeSantis touting the fact that Donald Trump had endorsed his candidacy.
Adam Putnam, while having nothing but high praise for Trump, focused on his "Florida First" campaign and kept clear of the Washington D.C. limelight.
Going into the debate, polls showed Putnam leading DeSantis by a healthy margin.
Those same polls also showed a substantial number of undecided voters.
Whether the debate swayed any of them is something that will become evident over the coming days.
