Brewers Win World Series

The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field in Game Five of the World Series. With the win, the Milwaukee Brewers are World Series Champions, having defeated the Rays 4-1 in the best-of-seven series.

Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski (2-1, 1.89) was dominant for the Brewers, pitching five and two-third shutout innings in which he allowed just two hits while striking out two and walking one. The Brewers were able to get just one run off Rays ace Drew Rasmussen 2-1, 2.20) who was getting the start on just three days rest. He pitched four innings allowing just two hits while striking out four and walking none.

The Brewers got their offense started in the second inning when Cooper Platt hit a RBI single to make it 1-0. Platt's impressive postseason continued as he went 2-for-3 with two runs driven in and a run scored. David Hamilton hit a RBI single in the fifth inning to make it 2-0, before Milwaukee added two more runs in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach.

The Rays only run of the game came in the ninth inning when Chandler Simpson hit a RBI double to pull the Rays within 4-1. That would be as close as the Rays would get, as Milwaukee would close the door to earn their first World Series title in franchise history.

The Rays season ended with 106 wins, the most in a single season in franchise history and their third American League Pennant. The Rays now look ahead to the 2027 season - keep it locked to 95.7 WDAE & AM 620 for your latest Rays news and notes throughout the offseason.
