The Tampa Bay Rays (83-55) defeated the New York Mets (62-77) 6-2 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. With the win, the Rays have evened the three-game series with the finale coming up on Wednesday night.
Freddy Peralta (7-11, 4.96) got the start and allowed just one earned run on three hits while striking out seven and walking none. The only run he allowed was a solo homer from Francisco Lindor to lead off the game - he settled in after that, eventually retiring the final thirteen batters he faced.
The Rays did not need much time to bounce back from that early deficit, as Junior Caminero hit a RBI single in the bottom of the first to tie the game 1-1. In the third Ryan Vilade hit a RBI single to give Tampa Bay a 2-1 lead, Then in the sixth inning the Rays erupted for three runs to take control of the game - they added another run in the eighth en route to a 6-2 win.
The Rays will now try to win the three-game interleague series against the Mets when they meet in the series finale on Wednesday night.
