Rays Drop Third Straight To Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles (61-63) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (74-49) 10-2 on Sunday afternoon at Tropicana Field. With the loss the Rays have lost the first three games of the four-game series to the Orioles, which will conclude on Monday night.

Ryan Vilade hit a home run in the fourth inning to put the Rays on the board first at 1-0 - he would finish 3-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored. The Orioles put together some big innings to take control of the game, beginning with a three-run fifth inning before erupting with seven runs in the sixth inning en route to a 10-2 win.

Freddy Peralta (5-10, 5.27) took the loss, making his third start for the Rays since joining the team at the MLB Trade Deadline. He allowed two earned run on one hit in four and two-third innings of work while striking out two and walking three. The Orioles got to the Rays bullpen throughout the game, getting one run off Garrett Cleavinger, five runs off Steven Matz and two runs off Joe Boyle.

The Rays will try to avoid being swept in the four game series against the Orioles when they meet in the series finale on Monday night. Shane McClanahan (9-6, 3.09) is scheduled to start the finale for the Rays and face Brandon Young (9-3, 3.33) for the Orioles.
