Rays Win Season Finale At Steinbrenner Field

The Tampa Bay Rays (76-80) defeated the Boston Red Sox (85-71) 7-3 on Sunday night to avoid being swept. The win came in the final game of the 2025 season at Steinbrenner Field.

The Rays took a 3-0 lead in the first inning thanks in part to a two-run double from Christopher Morel. The Red Sox got one back in the fourth before Brandon Lowe hit a solo home run in the sixth to make it 4-1. The Red Sox got two runs back in the seventh to make it 4-3, before the Rays answered with three in the eighth to put the game out of reach.

Joe Boyle got the start and allowed one earned run on four hits while striking out nine and walking four. Garrett Cleavinger (2-6, 2.28) picked up the win out of the bullpen.

The Rays now go on the road for the final week of the season beginning with a three-game series in Baltimore against the Orioles beginning on Tuesday night.
