Actor Alon Aboutboul Dead At 60

Actor Alon Aboutboul, best known for his role in The Dark Knight Rises, has died at the age of 60 after collapsing on HaBonim Beach in Tel Aviv, Israel, the Jerusalem Post reports.

Witnesses said the Aboutboulk was swimming in the water, came out and told people he felt unwell before collapsing. Pandemics reportedly spent an hour attempting to resuscitate the Israeli actor, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Alon Aboutboul, a father, a man, an actor, an artist, and above all, our beloved longtime friend, passed away this morning. Alon, I love you," said Shelly Aloni, CEO of the talent agency that represented Aboutboul, said in a statement to the New York Post.

Aboutboul's cause of death has not yet been determined. Israeli minister for culture and sport Miki Zohar shared a post on his X account tributing the actor.

"I was deeply saddened to hear about the sudden passing of the actor Alon Abutbul, may his memory be blessed," the translated post states. "Last night, I watched an interview with him where he spoke about filming a movie he recently participated in, and the passion for his craft that radiated from him was evident even after so many years in the industry.Alon was a recipient of the Ophir Award and the Television Academy Award, and over the years, he portrayed a wide range of characters, bringing depth and emotion to them, leaving a profound mark on Israeli culture.May his memory be blessed."

Aboutboul played Russian nuclear physicist Dr. Leonid Pavel in The Dark Knight Rises, the final film of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, who was kidnapped by the main antognist Bane played by Tom Hardy. The Israeli actor had also appeared in the films Two Fingers from Sidon, Rambo III, Body of Lies and London Has Fallen among others.
