The Baltimore Orioles (44-54) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (52-48) 5-3 on Sunday afternoon at Steinbrenner Field. With the loss, the Rays were unable to complete a three-game sweep over their AL East rivals.
The Orioles got a leadoff home run from Jackson Holliday in the first, before putting up a three-spot in the third to take a 4-0 lead. Junior Caminero drove in a run on a RBI single in the third, before Danny Jansen hit a solo homer in the fourth to pull within 4-2.
The Orioles got their fifth run in the sixth thanks to a solo home run from Ryan O'Hearn, before the Rays got one run back in the bottom of the ninth to pull within 5-3. Unfortunately that would be as close as the Rays would get.
The Rays now host the Chicago White Sox for a three-game series beginning on Monday night. First pitch Monday is scheduled for 7:35 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting Inside Pitch at 6:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
