Rays Take Series From Marlins

The Tampa Bay Rays (35-30) defeated the Miami Marlins (24-39) 3-2 on Sunday afternoon in Miami. With the win, the Rays finished their six-game homestand at Steinbrenner Field with a 5-1 record.

Miami got single runs in the first and the fifth to build a 2-0 lead, but the Rays answered. In the bottom of the fifth Yandy Diaz hit a two-run homer to tie the game 2-2 - Yandy finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs batted in and a run scored. Then in the eighth, Brandon Lowe hit a sacrifice fly to break the tie and lift the Rays to a 3-2 win.

Drew Rasmussen gotthe start and allowed two earned runs on six hits in which he struck out three while walking one. Edwin Uceta (5-1, 4.88) earned the win out of the bullpen pitching the final two innings.

The Rays now head to Boston for a three-game series against the Red Sox coming up on Monday night. First pitch Monday is scheduled for 7:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball all season long.
